Valentin Krylov named as Patria-Rodina's candidate for Chisinau mayor

Valentin Krylov has been nominated by the “Patria-Rodina” Socialist Party as its candidate for the post of Chisinau mayor in the upcoming local elections, the party said on Sunday in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The decision was adopted today at Patria-Rodina's extraordinary assembly, with the nomination being proposed by the party's organization in Chisinau. Valentin Krylov serves as secretary of Patria-Rodina's executive body. Earlier, a number of other parties also fielded candidates for the mayoral race in Chisinau: Labor Minister Valentina Buliga became the Democratic Party's nominee, MP Igor Dodon the Communist Party's selection, lawyer Radu Busila the Christian-Democratic Party's candidate, and “Our Home Moldova” Party fielded its president, Oleg Onischenko. The prospective candidate of the United Moldova Party is businessman Valeriu Plesca. The party's leader Vladimir Turcan said a final decision would be announced early next week. Although the leaders of the Liberal Party have many a time said Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca would run for re-election, no official decision has been announced yet. Moldova will hold general local elections on 5 June 2011.
