ECHR rules in Valentin Eșanu's favor

Valentin Eșanu, a formerly incarcerated businessman who was eventually rehabilitated, announced that the European Court of Human Rights ruled in his favor, finding the Moldovan authorities guilty of denying him a fair trial.

“Moldova has once again been found guilty of abuses of justice, abuses that had me personally stuck in jail for two years for no good reason. Abuses that caused, and still cause suffering to innocent people. What a disgrace”, Eșanu posted to Facebook. The businessman has promised to revleal details during a press conference next week.

Eșanu’s complaint the ECHR alleged “deprivation of the applicant’s freedom pending trial on several charges, for a total period of twenty-two months, in the absence of relevant and adequate reasons, ordered and extended in violation of the principle of equality of arms”.
