USAID to supplement financial assistance to Moldova
The Government today adopted a decision to initiate negotiations on Amendment II to the 2010 Economic Growth Assistance Agreement between the Moldovan Government and the US Government, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Moldovan Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca stated that under this amendment the United States Agency for International Development will offer Moldova an additional $6.14 million to support the Government's economic policies.
The Economic Growth Agreement supports the businesses' capacity to integrate themselves into domestic and foreign markets by improving productivity and employing modern technologies together with advanced marketing practices. The total amount disbursed under the Agreement will be $26.6 million.
A separate amendment will also be negotiated to a 2011 assistance agreement between Moldova and the United States to support justice sector reforms. The amendment will supplement the initial amount of $4.7 million by $2 million. Further, the United States will augment by $2.7 million the amount offered under a 2010 assistance agreement to support local public authorities, to a total sum of $8.3 million.
