US Embassy supports Moldova in fighting corruption

US Embassy in Chisinau welcomes the statement of president Vladimir Voronin issued on 23 March regarding Moldova’s participation in the Preliminary Program of the Fund Millennium Challenges (MCA). The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the government of Moldova to get progresses in fighting corruption – the only one criterion of eligibility for full assistance within MCA, which Moldova did not comply yet, according to embassy’s report. In his statement, president Voronin called on the population to contribute to fighting corruption that „the whole society, representatives of public administration bodies, opposition, business and civil society, to participate actively in commitments assumed in the program of Millennium Challenges Fund.” US Embassy welcomes the statement of the head of the state and is ready to support Moldova in this effort. MCA Program is a historic opportunity for Moldova. We hope that all citizens, regardless of age, position and political affiliation, will support the efforts in fighting corruption and to value a better future for this country, according to report of the Embassy. MCA Preliminary program was created to assist countries that engaged to introduce necessary reforms to increase the implementation performances of policies and this way to be included in a program of full assistance within MCA. Moldova was invited to present a participation proposal at the preliminary stage in November 2005.
