Universities from both banks of the Prut, common goals

The Moldova State University and “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova will be partners of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, which won over 1.4 million Romanian lei in financing at the competition of projects of cooperation with the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports, with reference to InfoPrut.

It goes to the projects “Ways to overcome threats induced by hydro-climatic risks in rural cross-border areas in the Prut valley. Multicriteria analysis” and “Decolonization of memory: the role of cultural expressions in processing Soviet heritage in the Republic of Moldova and Romania”. The third project, in the field of medicine, is entitled “Mental health and academic adaptation of international and refugee students”.

The competition of projects, organized by the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization and the Ministry of Education of Romania, aims to strengthen existing research networks and develop new partnerships between groups of researchers from Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Among the announced objectives are to carry out joint research and development projects, stimulate the mobility of researchers from the two states, train the young generation of researchers and identify complementarity between the research infrastructure existing in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The total budget allocated for the competition was 20 million lei.

In total, there were submitted 179 projects of which 174 were eligible and 38 were chosen for funding.
