UNITEM designates winners
Olga Gutu, actress of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, was awarded for the best female part in Dumitru Matcovschi's play “Tree of Life”, while Constantin Haret, actor of the Dramatic Theater “Anton. P. Cehov”, won the prize for the best male role in the play “Richard the Third”. The awards were handed over during the tenth Prize Gala of the Theater Union of Moldova (UNITEM) on Monday evening. There were distributed 15 prizes and eight commemorative medals, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The prize for the best performance went to the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” for the play “Tree of Life”, and to the National Opera House – for the opera “The Tzar's Bride”. The play “Flour of Happiness”, presented at the National Puppet Theater “Licurici”, was named the best puppet theater performance.
Alexandru Cozub won the prize for the best stage-managing work in the play “Tree of Life”, while actress of the Theater “Luceafarul” Valentina Izbeshchuk was awarded for long work on stage.
The play “Love is Dancing” directed by Alexandru Vasilache won the special prize of the UNITEM president. The excellence prizes went to actor Vitalie Rusu and president of the Theater Union of Romania Ion Caramitru.
There were also awarded the medals “Veniamin Apostol”, “Victor Ciutac”, “Eugeniu Ureche”, “Anatol Panzaru”, the Elite Trophy and the Tudor Vianu Trophy.
Under presidential decree, the honorific title of People's Artist was conferred on actors Valeriu Cazac and Eugen Cucuruzac, of the Municipal Theater “Satiricus Ion Luca Caragiale”, actor Nicolae Darii, of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, first conductor of the Orchestra of the National Opera House Nicolae Dohotaru, artistic director and manager of the National Puppet Theater “Licurici” Titus Jucov, actress Margareta Nazarchevici, of the Theater “Alexei Mateevici”, stage manager Lidia Panfil, and artistic director and manger of the Theater “Eugene Ionesco” Petru Vutcarau.
The awardees were selected by two juries that watched 43 plays put on by professional Moldovan theaters.
