Unique monograph cannot be published because of poor resources

Almost for 12 years, the manuscript of a unique folklore book about Ukrainians settled in Moldova lays on the desk of the Ukrainian Department of the Moldovan Science Academy (ASM), and it can not be published because of the lack of financial resources. Victor Cojuhari, chairman of the Department, told Info-Prim Neo that this material was collected during many years but because of the lack of money the book could not be published even after 12 years. Numerous requests addressed to economic agents and state structures remained unanswered. At the same time, the Ukrainian Department of the Academy managed to publish 17 textbooks of Ukrainian language, school programs and tests for the schools teaching in Ukrainian. All these books were published due to the direct involvement of the Ukrainian Department in this process, of the scientists from ASM, of the school teachers, employees of the Ministry of Education and Youth with Ministry’s and World Bank’s financial support. According to Cojuhari, some books dedicated to the history, culture, language, folklore, traditions from such localities as Petrunea, Danu, Nicolaevca, Camencuti, Sturzovca villages from Glodeni raion, were published. The third romance written in Ukrainian by Constantin Popovici will soon be published. Also the book “Ukrainians of Moldova. History and nowadays” will appear in the near future. The book will become a written guide for the wide public by presenting the history and culture of local Ukrainians, being published in Romanian and Russian, the cited source says. 15 years since its creation, the employees of the Ukrainian Department published more than 200 articles dedicated to Ukrainians from Moldova in different publications.
