Unified Crisis Management Center reorganized, transferred under Emergencies Inspectorate

Starting with March 31, the Unified Crisis Management Center will be reorganized and will be transferred to the platform of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, as the Commission for Exceptional Situations decided. Such a decision was taken because the flow of refugees from Ukraine declined, but the authorities want to keep it so that it further provides assistance and in the eventuality of a new rise in the number of Ukrainians refugees in Moldova, IPN reports.

In a news conference, the Government’s secretary general Dumitru Udrea, who had managed the Center since it was founded, said that Ukrainian refugees continue to come to Moldova and 96,000 refugees who need assistance are yet in Moldova and the decision to keep the Center is reasonable. As from March 31, all the budget costs incurred for catering services for temporary placement centers will be fully covered with foreign funds.

The temporary placement centers so far accommodated about 50,000 refugees who were provided with essential products and warm meals. During February 27 – March 31, over 61,000 refugees were transported from Moldova to other states. About 9,000 calls were made to the green line.

The Center will be managed by colonel Adrian Efros, division head at the General Staff of the National Army. He said that the center will now ensure the functioning of temporary placement centers and transport for refugees. It will manage such social services intended for refugees as access to education, employment, etc. To benefit from these services, the refugees need to obtain a personal identification number in Moldova.
