UN Agencies in Moldova willing to offer support to the Government on implementing EGPRSP
The representatives of UN Agencies accredited in Moldova expressed their willingness to offer supplementary support to the Government in order to implement the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Paper (EGPRSP). About this informed the resident coordinator of the United Nations, Bruno Pouezat, the chairman of the World Bank Office, Edward Brown and the permanent representative of the UNICEF, Ray Torres, within a meeting with the prime-minister Vasile Tarlev.
According to the UN official, the successful implementation of EGPRSP will contribute to the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals. They mentioned that the achievements obtained at macroeconomic level have positive impact, but there are plenty to do in order to eradicate poverty.
Among the future collaboration actions of the Moldovan Government planned for the next period, the UN representatives emphasized increasing the informing measures on preventing bird flu pandemics, fighting AIDS, tuberculosis, improving the culture of reproduction and health of Moldova.
According to the prime-minister, supporting the implementation of the priorities of sustainable development will lead, progressively, to solving the special problems of the Republic of Moldova and will facilitate its efforts of integrating into the world economy.
EGPRSP is an engagement of the Government for a sustainable development of the country and aims at raising the population’s life quality level, improving the social protection system for disadvantaged social categories, developing the system of social guarantees, creating new work places, ensuring qualitative and accessible medical services, as well as developing education and science.
