Ukraine is for resuming talks in Transnistrian conflict

Resuming the negotiations in Transnistrian conflict in “5+2” format, which proved successful in 2005-2006, could be productive in gaining territorial integrity for the Republic of Moldova. This declaration, according to the webpage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ukraine, was made by the vice-minister Andrei Veselovski, special representative of the Ukraine in solving the Transnistrian conflict. During a meeting with Valeri Keniaikin, special representative of the MFA of Russia in relations with CSI states, and Valeri Nesteruskin, special ambassador of the Russian diplomacy, the Ukrainian vice-minister mentioned that Ukraine has the same position towards the Transnistrian conflict - to find a peaceful solution of the conflict while keeping the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, to comply with the current customs regime and to ensure the rights and freedom of citizens. During the discussions, the Ukrainian official has also stated Ukraine will not send official observers to the referendum of September 17, as OSCE and the EU will not recognize the referendum as valid. The Russian side confirmed that it stands for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and the necessity to assure Transnistria its rights. The negotiations in „5+2” format have been stopped at the end of February, when the sides could not reach a common consensus about several issues, especially the problem of the inhabitants of Dorotcaia village.
