Emphasising the UK's support for Ukraine and Moldova on key areas such as reform will be at the heart of discussions when UK Minister for Europe Geoff Hoon visits Ukraine and Moldova from February 26 to 28. Minister Hoon will be in Moldova from February 27 to 28, a British Embassy’s press release quoted by Info-Prim Neo says. Taking the opportunity of his visit Geoff Hoon emphasised UK support for Moldova's reform path, which will bring it closer to the EU. He will also be discussing the UK's commitment to strengthening partnership and develop the co-operation on issues like economic reform and trade, energy and climate change, as well as to identify new areas of mutual interest. In Moldova Geoff Hoon will meet President Vladimir Voronin, Speaker of the Parliament Marian Lupu, Deputy Prime Minister Zinaida Grecianii and Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan. Minister Hoon will also meet representatives of civil society. Geoff Hoon has been Minister of State for Europe since May 2006. Prior to this appointment Mr. Hoon was Leader of the House of Commons and Secretary of State for Defence.
