Ion Neagu and Zoia Jalba, formerly unaffiliated Members of Parliament, announced today their membership in the European Action Movement. Neagu stated that they, together with other parliamentarians and simple members, left the Christian-Democrat People’s Party because its leaders had decided by themselves and without consulting the party and its voters to “pal up with the Communists in order to govern”. With their ideals betrayed, they have sought to encourage worthy people to join together in order to form a democratic alternative to the “Communist disorder”, and this is the European Action Movement. Neagu also said that the Movement will try to give people the hope they lost because of the poor performance of politicians and that this is Moldova’s only chance to Europeanise. Neagu and Jalba gained their seats in Parliament as Christian-Democrats, but left the party in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Recently, the two MPs were elected as vice-presidents of EAM.
