Two Ukrainian men fled the war but were caught near the border

Two Ukrainian men who tried to flee their country because of the war have been detained by Moldovan border guards. According to the authorities, the two men were guided by a Moldovan man who allegedly organized their illegal crossing for 2,000 dollars, IPN reports.

By law, able-bodied men are not allowed to leave Ukrainian territory during the armed conflict. Initial investigations by the authorities have established that this was the reason why the two Ukrainians, aged 25 and 54, crossed the border. They were stopped about four kilometers from the border line by mobile patrol inspectors of the Trotskoe Border Police Service.

All three men were detained. A criminal case was opened against the Moldovan citizen for organizing illegal migration. He was remanded in custody for 30 days. The investigation is continuing and is being coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of the Causeni district.
