Two cars and two trolleybuses were involved in an accident this morning on Grigore Vieru Boulevard in the capital. The circumstances of the incident are not yet clear. However, according to representatives of the Chisinau Electric Transport Authority (RTEC), the trolleybuses were stationary at a bus stop when the collision occurred.
"The trolleybuses are from routes no. 12 and 16. At the time of the impact, the vehicles were properly stationed at the public transport stop for passenger boarding and disembarking. Both trolleybuses had passengers on board. Fortunately, no one was injured," RTEC spokesperson Felicia Rusu told IPN.
Contacted by IPN, Natalia Stati, head of the Press Service of the capital’s Police Directorate, stated that a BMW, a Range Rover, and two trolleybuses were involved in the incident. Other details are under investigation.
"The vehicles sustained significant technical damage, but no injuries were reported. An investigation has been launched", Natalia Stati added.
RTEC announced that due to the accident, trolleybuses on routes no. 7, 10, 12, 25, and 24 are now operating only up to Albișoara Street. Routes no. 28 and 29 have been redirected via Petricani Street, Mihai Viteazul Street, and Alunelul Park. Trolleybuses on routes no. 16 and 32 are detoured from Albisoara Street via Vasile Alecsandri, Bucuresti, and Puskin Streets.
