The Central Electoral Commission has greenlighted the endorsement groups of Victoria Furtună and Andrei Năstase to gather signatures for their respective presidential bids.
Each registered group must now present to the electoral authority at least 15,000 and at most 25,000 signatures from at least half of the administrative units of second level to have their candidate registered in the presidential race.
To date, nine other initiative groups have obtained CEC registration, as Alexandr Stoianoglo, endorsed by the Socialist Party, has already submitted 25,000 signatures in his support.
Meanwhile, the legal scholar Alexandru Arseni and MP Vasile Bolea today asked the CEC to register their initiative groups, as the application submitted by the potential candidate Valentin Borodachi earlier is still being processed.
Also today, the Green Party requested registration as a campaigner at the October 20 to promote the “yes” option.
