Two more companies were registered in the Free Economic Zone “Ungheni-Business” – “Filatura-Ungheni” Ltd and “Axiom Company” Ltd. Both residents plan to start their activity this year. “Filatura-Ungheni” will invest about USD 5 mln this year in the construction of a factory for the production of wool and synthetic threads. The number of employees will constitute 340 persons. The company plans to sell production worth MDL 160 mln per year. The production of the factory will be mainly exported. “Axiom Company” will implement a project on the production and processing of stone. The volume of investments in this project amounts to USD 200 thousand. The production of the company will be sold both on the territory of Moldova and abroad, and the volume of the sales is planned to reach MDL 15 mln per year. The production and processing of stone will be ensured by 10 employees. After registering these two enterprises, the number of “Ungheni-Business” residents reached 38. According to data provided by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, starting 2003 till April 1, 2007, the total volume of the investments in FEZ “Ungheni-Business” constituted USD 21.2 mln. FEZ “Ungheni-Business” is the absolute leader in what concerns the industrial production, the share of which constitutes 62.9% of the total volume of the industrial production of the rest 6 free economic zones, followed by FEZ “Expo-Business-Chisinau” with 19.9%.
