The Cabinet approved two decisions concerning the building of the bust of Ion Costin and of a monument in memory of participants in the Chernobyl nuclear disaster cleanup, IPN reports.

The monument to Chernobyl liquidators will be erected in the Independence square in Ocnita town. As many as 33 persons from Octnita district were involved in the cleanup effort. Of these, 25 are alive. The costs associated with the designing and building of the monument and laying out of the adjoining area will be covered with funds from the Ocnita local fund and with donations and sponsorships.

By another decision, in order to eternalize the memory of politician Ion Costin, who was a member of the People’s Council and mayor of Chisinau in 1933­-1937, his bust will be built in Ghidighici village of Chisinau municipality. The costs will be covered with donations and sponsorships.
