Two men face fines for trespassing restricted border area

Two Causeni men have been caught in the crosshairs of law enforcement bodies for violating the border area regime. They are also to be investigated for use of marijuana.

The Border Police says in a press release that some local people warned that a vehicle was parked in the border area, and that there were two strangers. The investigations carried out by the border guards were extended in the direction of Taraclia-Petrovca. Shortly two men have been found near the border smoking marijuana through a handmade bong.

The men, residents of Taraclia village, Causeni district, confirmed that the device belonged to them and said that they bought marijuana from a stranger. As a result, a report was drawn up on the violation of the border area regime, and the plant based substance was handed over to an expert. Investigations will be conducted until the elucidation of all circumstances.

The Border Police also informs that another citizen was detained at the second attempt to fraudulently cross the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. He tried to cross illegally the state border in the direction of Crocmaz - Starokazache. The man was noticed by the Căplani SPF mobile patrol, being apprehended 50 meters from the border line.

The illegal crossing of the state border is punishable by a fine of up to 750 conventional units, or from 150 to 200 hours of community service, or by imprisonment for up to two years.
