Two men died yesterday in two separated drowning incidents, IPN learned from the Social Protection and Emergencies Service.

The first case involved a 58-year-old who drowned in a lake near the village of Todiresti, Ungheni. The second man, 63, drowned in the Nistru, near Serpeni, Anenii Noi.

While the first body was recovered, divers were so far unable to locate the second one, but the search will continue today.

Social Protection is warning the public to avoid swimming and bathing in places not suited for such purposes and which are not watched over by lifeguards.

From the beginning of the year, 68 people, including 12 children, drowned over the country.
