Sergiu Sîrbu announced his decision to withdraw from the parliamentary group Pro Moldova and to further sit as an unaffiliated MP, IPN reports.

“Things in life not always go according to plan. Sometimes, in order to go on, we have to take a step back. The most important thing is for the final goal to be the set one and I’m sure that this goal will be achieved, even if by a number of ways,” the MP posted on Facebook.

According to him, the reasons for such a decision are both personal and professional in character, but this matters less now.

Sergiu Sîrbu was a member of the Party of Communists, which he left at the end of 2012. In July 2013, he joined the Democratic Party, which he defected to the Pro Moldova parliamentary group led by Andrian Candu in February 2020.

Update /6:17pm/ Shortly afterward, MP Grigore Repeshchuk also announced that he left the Pro Moldova group and will further serve as an unaffiliated MP. “What I did and intend to do together with my supporters and for the benefit of the voters remains valid,” stated the MP.

Iodate /6:17pm/ After the two MPs made their announcements, Pro Moldova leader Andrian Candu reacted, saying the party is a young one of the opposition and of free people. “They are free to come to the team, assume risks and criticism, but are also free to withdraw when they are no longer Pro Moldova. In the process of building the party, we can yet lose mates, but we will attract new friends and members loyal to the ideas we promote. We took note of our mates’ decision and hope they will find their place, as they aimed. Our position remains the same – Dodon must leave,” Candu said in a statement.
