Two in three Moldovans say Transnistria must be reintegrated into Moldova, poll
Transnistria must be reintegrated into Moldova and placed under its jurisdiction, said 63% of the population living on the right bank of the Nistru River, according to Omnimas Barometer.
At the same time, 9% of respondents believe that the eastern region of the country should enjoy a status of autonomy within the Republic of Moldova. 7% think the best solution is to form a federation, and other 7% consider Transnistria should be left to become an independent state.
64% of the respondents said they trust the European Union, which is by five percentage points less than in October 2007 and by four points than a year ago. NATO enjoys the trust of 27% of the population. At the same time, 46% of the respondents said they do not trust NATO, and 21% the EU.
The poll was carried out between November 27 and December 4 on a sample of 1,083 persons, with a maximum sampling error of 3%.
