Moldovagaz holds negotiations with the Hungarian companies MOL and MVM on possible purchases of natural gas for the Transnistrian region, said the Kommersant, making reference to sources. According to the publication, the Hungarian companies do not have their own surplus of gas and so they will probably have to buy it on the market at a high price as well.
Earlier, the Government of the Republic of Moldova criticized the idea of buying gas for the left bank of the Nistru through Natural Gaz D.C. company, demanding that the supply process be transparently organized through Moldovagaz.
According to sources, for now it goes to gas supplies for the period until the end of March or the beginning of April. The route and price are still unclear. The Transnistrian region would need about 3 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Approached by IPN for a comment, representatives of the Ministry of Energy referred the reporter to Moldovagaz. For his part, the head of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban neither confirmed nor denied this scenario, noting that he does not comment on this information.
The Kommersant previously referred to another scenario. According to the source, the Cypriot company Ozbor Enterprises on January 20 reserved the necessary capacity for gas for the Transnistrian region. The gas was to be delivered through the Turkish Stream in the volume of 3.1 million cubic meters per day. At that time, however, it was gas promised as humanitarian aid offered by the Russian Federation.
