Nine persons lost the battle with COVID-19 on June 21 and two of them are health professionals. These are Vasile Sârbu, 65, who headed the Endoscopy and Ultrasonography Section of the Bălți Clinical Hospital, and nurse Victoria Maciuga, 45, who worked at the Pneumology Section of the Mother and Child Institute. The death toll now stands at 473, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, 247 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Moldova today and 21 of those diagnosed with the virus are healthcare workers. All of them are local transmission cases.

A total of 1,052 tests were done today and 846 of them were primary ones.

A number of 440 patients are currently in the hospital in a serious condition and 31 of them were put on a ventilator.

A number of 14,200 infections with the novel coronavirus have been confirmed in Moldova so far. Of these, 5,831 are active cases.
