Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca announced at today’s City Hall meeting the ordinance on the appointment of Vladimir Sarban and Mihai Carlig as the mayor’s representatives (pretors) in the districts of Centru and Rascani. Prior to being named district heads, Vladimir Sarban served as Secretary of the Chisinau City Council (CMC), and Mihai Carlig, a Liberal and a medical specialist, worked at a private clinic. Valeriu Nemerenco, sacked by the CMC in November last year, was reinstated to the office of Buiucani district head in compliance with a judgment by the Supreme Court of Justice. Only the seat of Ciocana pretor is now vacant. Up till present, four of the five districts in Chisinau City - Buiucani, Ciocana, Rascani and Centru – have been run by interim heads. Pretor Vladimir Guritenco is heading the district of Botanica. Dorin Chirtoaca says further talks on designating the district head of Ciocana are underway, and their result is to be made public after the City Day. Referring to the appointment of Sarban and Carlig, the mayor explained that he reached an agreement with the factions of the majority coalition in the Council on the respective candidates. Earlier, Dorin Chirtoaca conferred with the city councillors about the candidates for the district head offices. Among the candidates named then, but unapproved thus far, was Liberal Gheorghe Boaghe, district councillor in Criuleni. The Council previously rejected his candidacy for the office of Chisinau deputy mayor.
