The Parliament’s commission on culture, education, youth, sport and mass media selected two candidates for the three vacancies on the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC). These are Olga Gututui and Dragos Vicol, who are to be confirmed by Parliament, IPN reports.
Ten persons competed for the three vacancies. Besides Olga Gututui and Dragos Vicol, the contest also involved Oleg Brega, Zinaida Jiora, Veronica Cojocaru, Boris Erushevschi, Tudor Osoianu, Alexandru Grosu, Valentin Todercan, and Carmelia Albu. The last two didn’t come to the hearings staged by the commission.
After the voting, the members of the commission became involved in a conflict. Socialist MP Ion Ceban told the journalists that this contest was a bluff and the two candidates were selected long ago. The commission’s chairman Vladimir Hotineanu, of the Liberal Democratic Party, replied that the Socialists make a show whenever there is an occasion.
The commission decided to inform the Head of Parliament that one more contest must be staged to choose one more candidate for the post of member of the BCC.
The three posts remained vacant after BCC members Marian Pocaznoi, Ignat Vasilache and Vitalie Tabunshchik completed their duties.
