The journalist and TV producer Corneliu Durnescu has been named as the new director of Moldova 1 channel and deputy director of the public broadcasting company Teleradio-Moldova (TRM). TRM general director Vlad Țurcanu on Monday presented Durnescu’s candidacy before the broadcaster’s Supervisory Board.
In the past, Corneliu Durnescu worked with reputable media organizations including Radio Moldova and Jurnal TV, and was the producer of popular televised projects such as the talent show Fabrica de Staruri. In the last few years, he has been a producer for Radio Free Europe. “After we discussed concrete issues related to the public television, I am fully confident that Mr. Durnescu will be able to give a boost to the national television channel,” said the TRM director.
“I hope that in two weeks you will see some results. Trust me, I know how to do television. For me this is a challenge”, said Corneliu Durnescu. He added that he intends to carry out “major restructuring” within the Moldova 1 departments. “The first thing that I’ve already done was to redo the holiday schedule, which was terrible, with reruns from 2019. For lack of other content, I guess. So, this is a priority - the programming must be changed”, Durnescu added.
