Two ambulances that got stuck in snowdrifts, one near Rublenița village of Soroca district and another one in Ungheni, were towed away by rescuers in the morning of January 24. In Rezina district, the rescuers helped six trucks that could not mount a slope. Near Parcani village of Șoldănești district, a school bus without students could continue its way only after rescuers intervened. The rescuers in Balti also had work to do. These brought bread for inhabitants of Valea Norocului village of Sângerei district, sharing it out to elderly people and persons with disabilities who encountered difficulties in movement.

Asked by IPN to provide details, Sergiu Căpățână, head of the Operational Service of the State Road Administration, said there are no blocked sections on the administered roads. All the roads are passable, but vehicles travel in winter weather conditions. Snow removal works are performed in parts, where the wind was more intense and snowdrifts appeared. Over 800 tonnes of antiskid materials were spread during the night. All the dangerous road sections are monitored and intervention measures are taken if need be.

Drivers can check the conditions on the roads in real time on the State Road Administration’s website www.asd.md. Those who do not have access to the Internet can learn if a particular section is blocked or not by calling (022) 22-55-30. The service is available round-the-clock.

The Chisinau City Hall said the traffic on the streets of the capital city also moves in winter weather conditions. A number of 311 trolleybuses and 84 buses work on routes. The public transport runs on all the routes without deviations from schedule. The motorists are asked not to park their cars by the roadside so as not to block the way of snowplows.
