A trolleybus running on route No. 21 in Chisinau started to burn while moving. It happened in Rascani district in the evening of April 8. There are no casualties.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said the driver saw there was something wrong and asked all the passengers to get off at the station. He then headed for the headquarters of the trolleybus company. Shortly afterward, the trolleybus caught fire. Gheorghe Morgoci said the driver acted incorrectly. When he saw the fault he should have stropped and waited for a tow truck.
According to the company’s head, the trolleybus is over 20 years old. When another 20 new trolleybuses are put into operation this year, this vehicle will be set aside. Until then, the trolleybus will continue to run on route after it is repaired.
