Trolleybus blasts in Tiraspol
One person died and other 11, including a suckling, were seriously injured in an explosion occurred in a trolleybus in Tiraspol on Sunday noon, August 13. Later, because of severe injuries, a girl aged 6 and one more person died in the hospital. The blast happened in the same region where a minibus has exploded a month and a week ago.
According to Ala Ivancenco, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Press Center from the separatist republic, the blast happened in a trolleybus circulating on the route no.2, near “Pricernomornoie” shopping mall. The explosion damaged the back of the trolleybus, where 5-6 persons of those 30-35 persons were traveling. The quoted source excluded a terrorist act. The Transnistrian militia blames two RGD-5 grenades for the blast.
The driver of the trolleybus, Oleg Baharev, states that the blast happened several meters from the trolleybus stop, when it was in motion. “About 3 meters before the station, I heard three blasts, one very strong and two reminding of petards. Afterwards I saw black smoke”, he said.
As in the case from July 6, when 7 persons died and 26 were injured, authorities from Tiraspol announced about a reward of USD 10 thousand for the information which will help clearing up this alleged felony. At the moment a special group is investigating the case.
