The Green Areas Association and the State Ecological Inspectorate identified uncontrolled tree cutting activities in the forest-park “Schinoasa” of Chisinau. The inspectors established that there were cut 60 trees and bushes. Land resources were destroyed by excavating the cleared area.
Inspector Ion Caliniuc, of the State Ecological Inspectorate, has told IPN that a pond started to be built in that place. There were dug two large holes and the black earth was illegally stored nearby. The drawn up report will be transmitted to the police, which will continue the investigation.
The State Ecological Inspectorate will also determine the damage cause to the vegetal and land resources following the lab analysis of the samples taken from the scene.
Under the Code of Administrative Offenses, the fines for illegal cutting of trees vary from 800 to 1,000 lei for private individuals and from 8,000 to 10,000 lei for legal entities.
