Transportation companies have recorded a decrease in transport quantity

A report of the National Bureau of Statistics quoted by Info-Prim Neo shows that during January-July 2006 companies of railway, auto, water and air transportation have conveyed approx. 7,5 mln tons of merchandise, showing a 89,75% decrease in volume compared to the same period of last year. Railway transport carried approx. 5,9 mln tons which is only 91,9% of the amount from the same period of last year; auto transport carried approx. 1,4 mln tons of 81,3%. Only fluvial and air transport have increased in transported quantities. Therefore approx. 63 thousand tons, or 113,5% compared to the same time span from last year, have been transported by river, and the air transport moved 0,5 thousand tons or 114%. The average transportation distance has been 378 km, or 133% from the same numbers from last year. Auto transport had an average run of 418 km, fluvial transport – 4 km and air transport had an average distance of 1343 km. The railway transport covered 79,4% from the overall number of transports, meaning a decrease by 8,1% compared to same period of 2005. Most of the transported goods were construction materials and cement (37,5%), grains (14,1%), metals and scrap iron (10,7%).
