Transparency International opens Center of Legal Anticorruption Assistance

Transparency International (TI) – Moldova announced on Thursday, June 22 at a press conference about launching a Center of Legal Anticorruption Assistance (CLAA), program implemented due to the financial support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the Stability Pact in South-Eastern Europe. According to the jurist of CLAA, Constantin Lazar, the potential beneficiaries of the services offered by CLAA are the representatives of the civil society and of the private area, mass-media and civil servants. The persons requiring legal specialized assistance or willing to get informed about corruption cases but avoid the public bodies can benefit of legal assistance by calling the hot-line 20-34-85 (temporary telephone number) or come directly to the Center, located on 31 august Street, 98, office 203. Both services offered by CLAA are free of charge. The center will use the similar experience of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia. As well, at the press conference, TI in collaboration with the Prosecutor Office of the Republic of Moldova launched two publications: “Anticorruption guide for citizens” and “How to get protected from corruption”. Their publishing was financed by UNDP and DFID. Also with the support of DFID, the movie “Corruption fight strategy -2005: are the results tangible?”, presented at the conference was shot. Its goal is to inform the society about the results of the National Strategy of corruption prevention and fighting in the Republic of Moldova. TI-Moldova, as national branch of the world anticorruption organization Transparency International was registered on June 14, 2000. At present, the organization implements projects financed by UNDP, NOVIB, Eurasia Foundation and the European Commission.
