Transnistria trade to be covered by official statistics
Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev requested the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) to record the transactions made by the businesses registered in the Transnistrian region.
Vasile Tarlev stated today at the meeting of the National Committee on European Integration that statistics must be thorough and accurate, taking into account that most of the exporters in Transnistria are registered with Moldovan constitutional authorities. Given that starting March 2005 exports from Transnistria are allowed only with Moldovan customs seals, BNS must keep record of these transactions too, the Premier said. According to Tarlev, Moldova’s European partners also insisted on that.
Much of the statistics published to date by BNS have lacked data from the region controlled by the separatist Tiraspol regime.
