The authorities imposed traffic restrictions on the national roads for heavy trucks. The weight of a unit of transport should not exceed 20 tonnes during dog days with temperatures higher than 30 degrees Celsius. The heavy trucks will be banned from travelling between 10am and 8pm, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, the measure was taken to prevent the deterioration of the layer of asphalt on public roads amid high temperatures.
The restrictions do not refer to vehicles that transport persons, live animals or perishable products of animal or vegetal origin, to units of transport involved in emergencies and to vehicles engaged in road rehabilitation works within the limits of building sites.
Weather forecasters issued a yellow code advisory for hot weather for June 11-16. In the period, daytime temperatures will rise to +33...+34 degrees Celsius.
