Trade unionists from construction sector demand creating Labor Tribunal

The Federation of Trade Unions from Construction and Building Materials Industry
“Sindicons” insists on the necessity of creating the Labor Tribunal in Moldova, which would deal with labor disputes and conflicts. In a seminar centering on the issue, the Federation’s president Victor Talmaci said such tribunals exist in many states, IPN reports.

“Such institutions in the European countries have worked for many years. We want the lawsuits in Moldova to be as professional and efficient so that the applicants do not need to go to another court,” stated Victor Talmaci, quoted by the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova.

The Confederation’s vice president Petru Chiriac noted that the trade unions repeatedly demanded   setting up such a tribunal, which would resolve and even reduce the number of cases of labor conflicts. But the social partners consider that it’s not opportune to create specialized courts of law, arguing that additional costs are incurred.

Attending the event, Deputy Minister of Justice Nicolae Esanu said they are considering the possibility of founding other specialized court of law, not only of labor, but also of family, children, and others as the current legislation is very complex and it is rather hard to for one judge to be proficient in all the areas of law.
