Tourism & Travel Expo returns to Moldexpo after three-year pause

After a hiatus of three years, the international specialized exhibition Tourism & Travel Expo returned to Moldexpo Center. During April 6 – 9, there will be presented tourism products and offers in Moldova under the country brand “Tree of Life”, which will bring together different businesses from the tourism sector and region development initiatives, IPN reports.

Tourism & Travel Expo comes with a new concept and is aimed at developing and emphasizing small family businesses, handcrafting and other elements of the hospitality industry so as to contribute to promoting the county’s tourism regions and to increasing the local public’s interest in new destinations and tourist attractions in Moldova. Alongside the local offer, there will be presented the offer of the outbound tourism sector.

Within the exhibition, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism of Romania will sign a cooperation protocol to constitute a joint working group of tourism experts. The goal of the working group will be to promote closer cooperation between the official tourism organizations of the two countries so as to develop relations in tourism and to increase tourist exchanges.

The tourism sector of Moldova in 2019 generated revenues totaling about US$550 million, which is 4.7% of the country’s GDP. But the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine significantly affected the tourism industry. The exhibition will include a number of interactive  activities intended for the general public, professionals from the field and enthusiastic young people who want to build a career in the sector
