Sergiu Tofilat, dismissed from the Supervisory Board of "Moldovagaz," is urging Prime Minister Dorin Recean to show courage and remove Vadim Ceban from the list of candidates proposed for the leadership of "Moldovagaz." According to Tofilat, Ceban, the interim president of the company, failed to procure gas during the summer, and now everyone has to pay the high price, IPN reports.
Sergiu Tofilat stated that the Prime Minister blamed the Minister of Energy, the head of "Energocom," and himself, but said nothing about Vadim Ceban, the interim president of "Moldovagaz," who, in Tofilat's opinion, is primarily responsible for gas procurement.
Regarding his own role, Tofilat emphasized that he neither could nor blocked any purchases. He explained that European countries begin their winter gas procurement in April. However, "Moldovagaz" only remembered in mid-July that it needed to make winter reserves and tried to buy all the necessary gas at once, a decision destined to fail.
"It was absolutely clear that they would not succeed, so when I noticed these irregularities on July 18, I warned Vadim Ceban that it was wrong to buy all the gas in one day. Such large volumes are not available on the market. In civilized countries, the volume is divided into smaller quantities, over different periods. It is too risky to buy everything in one day," said Sergiu Tofilat.
According to him, this message was distorted, which is why he decided to publish the email. Moreover, "Moldovagaz" did hold an auction the next day, July 19, but received no offers.
"I've had doubts for a long time about Vadim Ceban's ability and willingness to work in the citizens' interest. He was appointed to the position at Igor Dodon's suggestion. So, in April, I called for a competition to appoint a new leadership at Moldovagaz", said Sergiu Tofilat.
Tofilat claims the Prime Minister opposed the competition and later insisted that Vadim Ceban remain at the head of the company, putting pressure on Minister Parlicov. "I state this with full responsibility. I tried to solve this situation diplomatically, without scandal. I discussed it with the Prime Minister, the head of the Economy Committee, and President Maia Sandu. They told me we would return to the topic after the elections. However, instead of solving the problem, they decided to defame me", Tofilat added.
"I call on Prime Minister Recean to exclude Vadim Ceban from the list of candidates proposed for the leadership of 'Moldovagaz,' because he failed to procure gas in the summer, and now we are forced to pay dearly for these mistakes. Let's see if Mr. Recean has the courage to do this", he concluded.
Sergiu Tofilat was dismissed from the Supervisory Board of "Moldovagaz" at the Prime Minister's request, who accused him of blocking the purchase of gas by the responsible institutions when the price was the most favorable, despite lacking the necessary competences.
