The supply of hot water and heat has been stopped on the left bank of the Nistru. The thermal energy was stopped on Wednesday morning, at 07:00 a.m., due to the lack of natural gas in the Transnistrian region, local media reported, quoted by IPN.
The people living on the left bank of the Nistru no longer receive hot water and heat after the gas supply in the region was stopped by Russia’s Gazprom.
A number of hospitals and social institutions receive heat as an exception, according to the decision taken last week by the Transnistrian administration.
The quoted source said the population no longer has hot water and heat in their homes, similar to the budgetary institutions and a number of enterprises. The exceptions are hospitals and temporary placement centers opened by the so-called Ministry of Social Protection in Tiraspol, the local press reported.
The heat supplier Tirasteploenergo explained that the situation is due to the halt in the supply of gas to the Transnistrian region on January 1, 2025. The company called on the locals to turn off the faucets on all hot water pipes, call emergency services if necessary and use electric heating appliances with caution. It is banned using both electric and gas-based stoves to heat homes. "Dress as warmly as possible and administer drugs for the prevention of influenza and respiratory diseases," urged Tirasteploenergo.
