The administration in Tiraspol has decided to lift the restrictions on electricity exports as long as natural gas supplies to the region remain secure. The leader of the Transnistrian administration, Vadim Krasnoselsky, made amendments to the earlier "order" concerning the imposition of a state of economic emergency, IPN reports.
Initially, the measures established during the state of emergency included a ban on exporting any type of energy resources. However, a day after the "order" was issued, an exception was introduced allowing electricity exports, provided that natural gas supplies continue.
The "order" on the state of economic emergency is scheduled to be reviewed and approved on Wednesday by the so-called Supreme Soviet of the region.
While the administration in Tiraspol initially planned to restrict energy resource exports, representatives from the Ministry of Energy clarified that the Moldovan Thermal Power Plant (MGRES) in Transnistria is expected to supply electricity to the right bank of the Dniester River at least until the end of the year, as stipulated in the contract with Energocom. The continuation of the contract with MGRES will be determined based on natural gas deliveries to the left bank.
