The leader of the self-proclaimed Moldovan Transnistrian Republic Vadim Krasnoselski signed a decree by which he instructed the local electoral body to assist the Embassy of Russia in organizing the March 18 Russian presidential elections on the territory of Transnistria, IPN reports.
The local press reported that the Transnistrian executive will provide the electoral offices of the polling places set up by the Embassy of Russia with premises, units of transport and the equipment needed in the voting process. A number of 24 polling places will be established in the Transnistrian region, by two more than in the previous elections. Voting by the mobile ballot box at the place of stay will also be possible.
In a response to IPN News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova said the Embassy of Russia in Chisinau presented no official request as to the establishment of polling places. The Ministry will examine and respond to the Russian side’s requests when these are made.
