Tiraspol accuses Chisinau of plotting “terrorist acts”

Tiraspol is accusing Chisinau of training “combat groups” to “commit acts of terrorism” in the breakaway region. The Reintegration Policy Bureau responded by calling the allegations “provocative” and “pursing propaganda purposes”.

Transnistria’s self-styled ministry of security issued a press release today claiming that it possessed intelligence according to which “within the special forces of Moldova, under the guidance of foreign specialists, special combat groups (of over 60 people, most of them from Ukraine and having combat experience) are being trained to carry out acts of terrorism on the territory of Transnistria”. The attacks will allegedly target “critical infrastructure” including military one, as well as top officials, including heads of law enforcement agencies.

Also today, Tiraspol extended a code yellow security alert in until March 14.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, representatives of the Reintegration Policy Bureau said the allegations are “provocative” and “pursuing propaganda purposes”. “We reiterate our recommendation (for the public) to get informed from official public sources, as issued by the legitimate authorities”, the Bureau added.
