Thursday is last day when postal votes are accepted

Thursday is the last day when postal votes cast in the second round of the presidential election are accepted, IPN reports. "The reception is in progress and a large part of the envelopes have already arrived. However, tomorrow is the time limit for sending these envelopes so that they can be processed in a timely manner and registered, as the law provides," said Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The minister noted that if postal voting, which is piloted in six states, proves useful, it can also be applied at the future elections.

For the October 20 election, 1,344 envelopes out of the 1,808 sent to citizens who requested to vote by post were received. In the runoff election, voters who did not participate in the October 20 election, but received the envelope with the electoral materials, i.e. all 1808, can also vote by post.

Postal voting is piloted in the U.S., Canada, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Finland.
