Three years of war in Ukraine. Three years of pain and sacrifices, of fighting for life

Three years after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Moldovan leadership transmitted messages of solidarity and support, underlining the state's firm commitment to peace, freedom and security, IPN reports.

"Three years of war. Three years of pain and sacrifices. Three years of fighting for life. Three years during which Russia has been trying to destroy Ukraine. But Ukraine resists. And Moldova is on the side of the good, on the side of peace and freedom," said President Maia Sandu.

The head of state highlighted the impact of the war on Moldova, reminding of the security threats generated by air attacks on Ukraine, including drones and fragments of missiles that fell on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

"Today we know that our peace depends on Ukraine's courage, but also on our determination. We must protect our peace and freedom from those who want to see us weak and divided, from those who blackmail us with darkness and cold or try to buy our votes with dirty money," noted President Sandu.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean in his message said that it has been three years of unjust war, of resistance against Russia's unjustified aggression. "Over three years, a child learns to walk, a family builds a house, a young person makes their way in life. But during three years of Russian invasion, millions of Ukrainians lost everything: destroyed lives, children separated from their parents, entire cities wiped off the map and a lot of suffering," noted the official.

According to Premier Recean, all this time, the Moldovans have been brave and supportive of Ukraine. "We know what it means to be united – for peace, freedom and a life where our children know no fear. Moldova has stood by Ukraine for freedom, democracy and the values that define our European future. Only peace for Ukraine," he said.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said that for three years, day after day, Ukraine has been fighting bravely, with dignity, for democracy, freedom, sovereignty and peace. For three years, the Ukrainians have been dying, being killed by the Russians, because they do not want to give up their country and because they are patriots.

"We are witnesses of an unjust war, witnesses of three years of illegal, immoral, I have every right to say, criminal invasion of Russia and this is because an individual with immeasurable power ambitions wants to establish "ruskyi mir" in Ukraine and rebuild an empire," noted Speaker Grosu.

"Thank you, dear Ukrainians, for your resistance, for fighting, for loving Ukraine. Moldova will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes. Glory to all the heroes who fell while defending democracy, freedoms and common Western values, which we all enjoy.”

Today marks three years since the outbreak of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. According to international media, the war, which the Kremlin has always called a "special military operation to denazify and demilitarize" Ukraine that refuses to yield to it, stretches over hundreds of kilometers of front lines, devastated vast areas of the country, killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions more. Despite the expectations, Ukraine has endured an existential struggle for survival, supported by an influx of Western military assistance.
