Three national historical sites are currently in an advanced state of ruin. These are the complex of buildings of the Stolniceni Hospital in Edineţ district, Stroiescu Mansion in Brânzeni, Edineţ, Rosetti-Roznovanu Mansion in Lipcani, Briceni. To sensitize the people, the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration and the National Council of Historical Monuments of the Republic of Moldova made three shirt films.
In a news conference at IPN, Ion Ștefăniță, director general of the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration, said the buildings of the Stolniceni Hospital are deserted. If the public functionaries of the country had worked better, this hospital could have treated now many patients in northern Moldova, including those with COVID-19. The historical moment Rosetti-Roznovanu Mansion in Lipcani is protected by the state on paper only. “When the politicians in Chisinau are on barricades, they don’t see what’s going on in the rest of the country, but the country is falling into ruin. This case should be a lesson for functionaries of the central and local levels,” stated Ion Ștefăniță.
He also said that the ceilings of Stroiescu Mansion in Brânzeni collapsed. It is a historical, architectural monument that can work as a hospital. The central public authorities should communicate more with the local authorities and act together so as to put these sites to good use.
Ion Ștefăniță also said that the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration and the National Council of Historical Monuments requested the Audiovisual Council to distribute these films to all the media outlets in Moldova. But the Council refused for the reason that the regulations do not permit a film longer than 1.5 minutes to be included in the category of social promos.
The videos titled “Saving Past Testimonies for Building a Future in Moldova” were made in cooperation with the Production House “Symbol Media” to raise the awareness of society and urge business entities to help restore and develop the architectural monuments.
