Three young men died when the car in which they traveled skidded off the road, crashed into an electricity pole and overturned, hitting the annex of a house. According to the police, the driver, who suffered only minor injuries, was inebriated, IPN reports.
The National Patrolling Inspectorate said the accident happened on Ghica Voda St in Drochia town on November 2. As a result of the impact, three men aged 23, 27 and 32 from Tarigrad village of Drochia district died on the spot. Another passenger of 27 was seriously hurt and was hospitalized. The 26-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was admitted to the Drochia District Hospital.
The first examinations at the scene revealed the driver was drunk. The breath test showed he had 0.93 mg/l of alcohol in his breath. The police presume the accident was the result of speeding.
According to specialists, inebriation reduces the speed of reaction and accuracy of movements and can diminish the visual and hearing acuity of drivers.
