Three men investigated for illegally bringing semi-trailers and trucks from EU into Moldova

Three residents of Chisinau are under criminal investigation for illegally transporting semi-trailers and trucks from the European Union to the Republic of Moldova. The Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said that the means of transport with false identification numbers and documents were brought through the Leușeni customs post. Some of them had been stolen, IPN reports.

The suspects, aged 40, 50 and 52, purportedly intended to use the semi-trailers and trucks to transport goods, to provide them to transport gravel, sand or other materials in the construction sectors and to put a part of them up for sale.

During the searches carried out in the municipality of Chisinau, trucks and semi-trailers with Moldovan and European Union registration numbers, drafts, foreign license plates and data on bank transfers were detected.

Based on the accumulated evidence, the prosecutors charged two of the investigated men, who allegedly played a decisive role in the smuggling scheme. The criminal investigation continues.
