Three young persons died and one suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident in Ungheni town last night. The car by which these travelled crashed into a truck parked by the roadside. Press officer of the Ungheni Police Inspectorate Oxana Toderita has told IPN that the driver was speeding and at a certain moment lost control of the car, IPN reports.
As a result of the impact, the 26-year-old driver suffered brain injury, a concussion and different traumas and was rushed to the Ungheni District Hospital. The three passengers aged between 27 and 29 died on the spot. There was no one in the truck when the accident occurred.
“If the driver is found guilty of violating the traffic rules, he will serve up to ten years in jail. If it’s established that he was under the influence of alcohol, he will face up to 12 years behind bars,” stated Oxana Toderita.
