This morning’s earthquake will not have aftershocks

The quake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale that occurred in Romania’s Vrancea Mountains this morning, October 6, and was felt in Moldova too will not have aftershocks, IPN reports.

Ion Ilies, head of the Experimental Seismology Center of the Chisinau Institute of Geology and Seismology, said the earthquake happened at a depth of 123 km in the Vrancea region. The epicenter was located 224 km southwest from Chisinau.

In Chisinau, the quake occurred at 4.39, the local hour, and measured 4-5 degrees. The population felt it like one shake. Many people woke up as the windows and lamps trembled, said the seismologist.
