Thirteen autoclaves donated to ANSP labs

Thirteen autoclaves for decontaminating biohazardous waste have been donated to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP) to be used it its laboratories. The donation is part of a joint WHO and USAID effort to provide humanitarian aid to Moldova in managing the ongoing pandemic crisis.

During the handover ceremony, Igor Pokanevych, WHO representative to Moldova, said decontamination and sterilization of laboratory equipment and instruments is very important for their optimal operation. “Used with maximum efficiency, these autoclaves, delivered thanks to the USAID contribution, will ensure safety conditions for laboratory workers, biohazard standards and performance in laboratories in the country,” he said.

An autoclave is a decontamination and sterilization apparatus used in laboratory work.
