There are no preconditions for announcing mobilization in the Republic of Moldova. The citizens should not allow to be manipulated by false information and should inform themselves from credible sources, Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatyi stated after news items about eventual mobilization that is to be announced in Moldova in November appeared on social media, IPN reports.
In accordance with the law, mobilization can be initiated together with the declaring of a state of siege or war. The mobilization is announced by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova at the suggestion of the Supreme Security Council, while the President of the Republic of Moldova can announce partial or general mobilization with the Parliament’s consent.
At the start of October, Deputy Premier Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, said the involvement of Moldovan citizens as mercenaries is absolutely illegal. He called on the Moldovans not to become involved in the war. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova who also hold Russian nationality and are in Russia can be mobilized.
